Delhi has lots of monuments that are not only hidden but ignored and then forgotten. During the Mughal era, there were various power shifts and saw a lot of eruption of these monuments and also destroyed. We have one such monument in Rainbows Montessori Block in S block “Kharbooze ka Gumbad”. The dome looks like a fruit perhaps a half musk melon and hence the name. It is said to have been built in 14th C. AD during the Tuglaq period. It is also said that Sufi Saint Kabiruddin Auliya used to use this but it has no authentic evidence. Recently the Horticulture Department restored the dome and renovated the structure. There are lots of other heritage sites/monuments in Sadhna enclave and around Panchshila Park in Mehrauli which are forgotten. Rainbows School definitely has a cultural gem worth saving and worth visiting. (Contributed by Swati Shah)
