Millions of people across North India have been enduring scorching summers. Temperature is touching 49+ degrees in Delhi NCR consistently.
Studies have found links between rising temperature and a range of mental health issues including mental fatigue and aggression. Even when most of us are sitting in our Air conditioned homes and offices, we aren’t at our best. Increase in stress, irritability or anxiety is a common phenomenon.
There are people out in the field around us who are feeling this heat more than what the temperature suggests inside our air-conditioned cars, homes and offices. Here are a few ways to create a more supportive and compassionate environment around us:
1) Don’t honk or overtake unnecessarily while driving, especially at any of the cyclists, auto, delivery service providers or anyone at all. Give way or show them the way.
2) Upgrade from providing water when asked, to a shot of Lemon juice or popsicle as a welcome drink every time someone comes for delivery at your doorstep.
3) Leave your house with an extra bottle of cold water, right from the security guard in your society or for the people at the traffic lights. It will be the best drink they have been waiting for.
4) Keep a bowl of water in the balcony, outside on the window or in your house to help birds rest well for a while.
5) A small chat with your housekeeping help post her work in the comfort of our AC home and toasting on some chilled Chaach or Nimbu Paani will help her stay motivated and keep going for the rest of the day.
A little act of kindness can go a long way and help increase your happiness levels too!
