Health Talk by Dr Megha Pruthi at Silver Oaks

There is a Fortis medical centre in Silver Oaks and we often have specialist doctors from the hospital giving talks on various subjects. Last week a very relevant subject

• pain in elderly and post-surgery palliative care was covered by Dr Megha Pruthi. She is Additional Director and heads department of pain and palliative medicine.
  She explained in detail that no matter what the cause, they endeavour to make patients pain free, or at least lessen their pain, so that their quality of life becomes better. The treatment may be in the form of medication, exercise, meditation and sometimes minimally invasive techniques.
  Senior citizens need to be extra cautious to prevent falls. Hand rails, walking sticks, no carpets were some of the suggestions.
  Residents were then able to ask questions about their own problems and Dr Megha answered them patiently and advised them on the path to follow.
