A Health & Hygiene awareness program for the underprivileged women At Zamrud Pur Chaupal, New Delhi was organised by EWA Empowered Women’s Associa-tion, supported by Delhi Police and Zamrudpur residents welfare association on Fri 14, Oct.
There was active participation from various government departments with a 200+ women audience and 100+ children.
Our resident Sharmila Goyal spoke on various skill training programs run for the underprivileged women at Police Station Chittranjan park and Police Station Greater Kailash.
Dr Manju Singh a renowned Senior, Gynecologist, retired as Jt. Director from UP Health Service is a State level trainer for Breast Feeding promotion who spoke on advantages of breast feeding to ensure good health and immunity of the child.
Anaiya Narula a class 12 young crusader spoke on Menstural hygiene and distributed copies of a book written by her.
Prakash Agrawal a California based NRI & a well known name in the corporate world is promoting cloth, washable and reusable sanitary napkins. He spoke about the disadvantages of using synthetic sanitary pads and its disastrous effect on environment.
Ravi Verma from MCD Malaria department spoke on the rising cases of Dengue and Malaria.
Subhash Gautam DDSIL IEC spoke about various programs conducted by MCD to promote and inculcate the habit of safe waste management practices and maintaining the cleanliness of surroundings.
Sabika Ahmed from District Legal Services Authority spoke on women’s rights, free and competent legal service provided to the weaker sections of the society to ensure that opportunities for securing justice are not denied to any citizen by reason of economic or other disabilities. Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DLSA) organizes Lok Adalats to secure that the operation of the legal system promotes justice on a basis of equal opportunity.
Shobha Bahl, Renu Singh, Sushma Binani, Rita Toteja, Sabrina along with the students of EWA helped coordinate the entire program flawlessly.
Harcharan Verma Retd ACP Delhi Police ensured every minute detail was worked on for the smooth conducting of the program.
There was Free Distribution of 500 Washable & Reusable Sanitary Napkins & 225 Cloth Bags. Health food and refreshments were served to all 300 people present (200 women 100 children).
The cloth bags, the washable sanitary napkins are the most sustainable options available. Giving a strong social message of No plastic in all its programs.
