Samvada wishes all its readers a very Happy New Year. 2023 was welcomed with gaiety in the sector. People rang in the New Year with cheers, music, and dance. Some residents even burst crackers, and fireworks lit up the sky. Messages flooded social media and WhatsApp, and many residents called their loved ones to wish them a happy new year. Given that there was a curfew thanks to the COVID pandemic in the past two years where vehicular movement was restricted, this was the first year where, except for Section 144, it looked like life was back to normal. However, a sour note was struck when celebrations in the sector, especially in D-block, went on past 2 AM. The music was extremely loud and caused a lot of disturbance. Some residents complained on WhatsApp groups, with one guy jokingly saying that he is thinking of exacting revenge in a similar manner, but at 5 AM!
