Gyandeep Children Celebrate Teachers Day

Every year India celebrates Teachers Day on 5th of September to commemorate the birthday of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan the country’s first vice President and former President. We all have had our share of nostalgic memories and celebrated Teachers Day in our schools and colleges. We still have sweet memories of our teachers till date.

This year September was the most significant month for Gyandeep Growth Foundation and its children. Along with other two events, what made it most eventful was the celebration of ‘Teachers Day’ for the very first time by the children, since its inception 14 years back.

We Teachers were pleasantly surprised and overwhelmed with joy at this turn of events. Small children of 4 to 5 years who joined Gyandeep14 years ago today as young adults took charge as volunteers and an initiative to celebrate Teachers Day on 5 th of September. There were giggles all around, broad smiles and a surprise element which excited both us and children alike.

We were not allowed to go to the area where they were practicing. They gave clear instructions “All teachers will wear sarees and come.” Sure enough teachers came in their best draped sarees, smiling ear to ear. After all, Children’s wish was our command! As we entered the back lane we were welcomed with  resounding claps; given places to sit and a banner beautifully set up, on which was written ‘Happy Teachers Day.’ There was joy in the air.

Children welcomed us with a big card signatured by all children for the occasion. Every teacher was called one by one and children very lovingly attached the broach they had made with their own hands . Our Founder member Sumita Kakkar gave the ‘Thank You’ speech and children listened in rapt attention. What followed next was a mesmerizing, magical, cultural program presented by the children.

In their colorful dresses they look like angels on earth. Our hearts went out to bless each one of them to be capable citizens of future India. We had tears in our eyes and hearts filled with their boundless joy. Children had organized a big cake to celebrate the occasion. Few members from Tanishq had also come to celebrate Teachers Day with us.They had brought cake and flowers too.

All in all it was a heart touching event and we all came back with loving memories of Teachers Day to last us for the lifetime.

“Every child is a tiny bud which a teacher nurtures with all her love hoping these tiny buds blossom into beautiful flowers.” It goes without saying that Gyandeep children have made us proud.  God bless them all with a happy value based life and that is what we all teachers wish for!
