The three principles of Guru Nanak’s Sikh Way of Life were on full spectacle this 13th of November in Lotus Espacia, when the society witnessed its 3rd Annual Gurupurab Celebration in its campus. The mesmerizing event was attended by a large number of community members from Espacia as well as other neighbouring societies.

Guru Nanak Birthday or Gurupurab is celebrated globally with great fervour and joy by Sikhs and several other communities. The festival is celebrated on the day of Kartik Poornima and involves wholehearted involvement of the community, day-long Kirtans, Katha Samagams and Guru ka Langar.

This Espacia event has been a truly resident-driven initiative for the last few years and is well supported by the community in every respect. The Organising Sewadar Committee, comprising Gautam Arora, Jatinder Pal Singh, Dr. Kamaljit Anand, Anuj Aneja, Vinod Taneja, Swaran Singh, Abhinav Kansal, Ena Anand, Bhavdeep Kaur, Kanwaljit Kaur, Pankaj Verma, Anmol Bhatia and other Sewadars have been able to engage and serve the Espacia community in a very spirited and dedicated manner in all these years.

This year’s Programme started with Safai Sewa on the 12th of November at 10 pm. The residents of Espacia (Sangat) participated wholeheartedly in the washing and cleaning of the society roads. Apart from the devoted community elders, Kids also engaged in the Sewa from the beginning to the end, chanting and singing hymns all through. Chai and snacks were served to all the Sewadars.

The Society was decked up in colours of the Khalsa Panth (Kesari, Blue and White) and the Multi-Purpose court was the venue of the event. A beautiful stage was set up replete with banners, flowers and balloons. For the first time, Pagdi tying sewa was offered for all Sewadars who wished to be part of the celebrations.

The Holy Book of the Sikhs, Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji (SGGS) was brought in from one of the Sewadars, Brigadier Dhot’s residence in Tower 32. The Holy book was carried with all respect and reverence in the Guru Darshan Yatra inside the society premises by the committed Sewadars treading on foot, representing each of the 7 Towers in Espacia. The Sawari was welcomed and showered with petals in front of each Tower and finally, it was established on the stage by the Granthi ji.

Kirtan Samagam started at 11 am by Ragi Damanpreet Singh ji (Delhi Waale) followed by Shabad Recital by ladies of the Sukhmani Sahib group in Espacia. The Kirtan Samagam ended with Katha Vachan followed by Shabad recital by Bhai Amandeep Singh ji, Hazoori Ragi, Sector-18 Gurudwara. The sweet ras of gurbani captivated the gathered audience for hours.

Post Ardaas, Langar was served to more than 1200 members of the Sangat, Society staff, housekeepers and Guards. The Langar was served with high devotion and passion by the Kids, women, elderly and respected members of the community. It was thus a wholesome coming together of all strata of the Society, truly celebrating the two pillars of the Sikh Faith- Simran and Sewa.
