Guru Nanak Jayanti is celebrated every year on Kartik Purnima. This time Kartik Purnima was on November 27. Guru Nanak Ji was the first Guru of the Sikh community. Guru Nanak ji is also called by his followers by names like Baba Nanak, Nanakdev, Nanakshah and Nanaklama. Guru Nanak Dev Ji had laid the foundation of Sikhism, hence this day holds special significance for the people of Sikh community. People of Sikh community celebrate this day as Prakash Parv.
Guru Nanak Dev Ji had dedicated his entire life to human service. He even sacrificed his family life and happiness to remove the evils prevalent in the society. He used to travel far and wide to remove the evils and vices from the minds of people and remove the darkness from their lives and make them bright. This is the reason why the followers of Guru Nanak Dev Ji consider him as the God and Messiah of their lives and celebrate his birthday as the festival of lights.
Nanak ji’s birthplace is in Pakistan. Guru Nanak Dev Ji was born on 15 April 1469 at a place named Rai Bhoi Di Talwandi. This place is now in Nankana Sahib city located in Punjab province of Pakistan. This city was named Nankana Sahib after Guru Nanak Ji. Nankana Sahib Gurudwara is still beautiful there. Guru Nanak ji was the first Guru of the Sikhs. He was the one who laid the foundation of the Sikh community.
In the series of Guru Purab celebration , Prabhat pheri with a group of many worshippers covered several sectors of Noida every morning starting 5am and culminating around 6.30 am at the house which served refreshments to all worshippers.
This year the Prabhat pheri took rounds across many sectors in Noida. The event started on November 1 and ended on November 26 – just before Guruparab .
This year the probhat feri also came to our sector on November 23. The Pheri started at 5 am from Gate no 1 and after circling the sector ended at the residence of TS Arora (D-35). Kirtan by Sangat and Ardaas were conducted here till 6.30 am.
G S Sachdeva RWA 39 president, Mr Awana , Kuldip Singh ( vice president ) , Ashok Khanna, Rahul Nayyer, Arun Gupta , Pawan Agarwal, Sandeep Malhotra, Shashi Gupta , Sandeep , Mr Chadha and many other residents of sector 39 took part in the event. At the end Guru ka Langar was served.
