On the occasion of Guru Nanak Prakash Utsav, Sukhmani Sahib Group and some sewadars from Espacia joined hands to arrange langar Sewa for housekeeping staff and society helpers on Saturday, 2 December.
Langar is an integral ritual of the Sikh community, the path for which was laid by Guru Nanak ji – the first Guru of Sikhism.
The amphitheatre area was designated for the langar Sewa. The langar prasad offered was a sumptuous lunch comprising dal – sabji – fulka complete with motichoor Ladoo. Special care was taken to pack the food hygienically in sealed disposable lunch plates.
The meticulously – laid table surrounded by sewadars already on their toes for service; worked as a dominant appeal to all the society helpers to flock the area and seek blessings of Guru Nanak ji in the form of langar prasad.
By the end of the Sewa, around 300 to 325 lunch plates had been distributed to workers at all levels.
‘Underprivileged’ is definitely a misnomer for them because those who witnessed this langar Sewa can tell you that each soul that took the prasad felt so special, contended and privileged to have sought blessings of Guru Nanak ji who people believe is the invisible host of every langar, reinforcing and upholding the noble principle Vand Chhako which means to share and consume together.
This opportune moment helped them break away from the monotony of workspace and brought joy on their faces which could not go unnoticed. We really applaud this genuine effort by Sukhmani Sahib group.
It was really a very noble way to commemorate Jayanti of beloved Guru Nanak ji.
