Gulmohar Club Conducts AGM

Very well attended and smooth affair

The Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) of Gulmohar Sports cum Community Centre was held on December 24, 2022. The well attended AGM was a smooth affair. At the outset, President Manpreet Singh Chowdhary welcomed the members and expressed deep appreciation for the unstinted support of the members to the Centre which, like many other institutions, faced tough times during the Corona pandemic. Despite such odds, he said, the Centre solidly stood by its staff and did not resort to even a single retrenchment. The staff too lent full support and cooperation to the management to help tide over the crisis.

Mr Chowdhary outlined the initiative of the Centre in upgrading certain facilities which came in for appreciation by the members. With team effort, the managing committee was able to spruce up and reimagine the space along the driveway as a Cafe and bakery unit. For the first time, the Centre, like many other prestigious ones, now boasts of its own bakery, with fresh from the oven breads, cakes, muffins and other items like pizzas and patties finding a great favor with members and their families. He said that youngsters, particularly, have found it to be a great place to connect over a cup of coffee.

He said that over the past couple of years, the Centre had managed to maintain prices and not resorted to raising prices even though input costs had gone up. He informed the General Body that the Centre was in the process of upgrading their facilities in consultation with the academy partners.

The AGM unanimously approved the minutes of the previous AGM, audited accounts, and the Secretary Report. The President informed the House that submission of audited accounts was delayed because of a change in the format in which the accounts have to be presented which resulted in further delay of holding the AGM.

He said that with normal activities resuming after the pandemic, the Centre was able to organize a number of events with the active participation of the members. Mr. K M Azad, Mr Subrat Birla, Mr Sumit Singhal and Mr SPK Gupta made meaningful interventions and suggestions. Mr Atul Bal, who is a MC member as well as President of the RWA, sought to bring two resolutions which was politely declined by the Chair as these were brought much after the stipulated deadline for submission. However, the Chair assured that his suggestions would be taken up at the next MC meeting of the Centre.

The AGM ended with a vote of thanks and members interacted over lunch that followed.
