The void created by a loss can never be filled. Still, abundant love and joy can ameliorate the emptiness with their warm embrace. Juno, our retriever, created that emptiness forever. But then came along Nora and Griffin – not Instagr-ammable, naughty, jumpers, noisy, pissers, chewers – disruptors of the third kind, but full of love, love, and love to give. Griffin and Nora – our Bundles of Joy!! I clearly remember the ill-fated day of October 20 when I lost my baby Juno (Goldie boy). I was shattered, and the pain and grief were indescribable, having consumed me and our entire home. A few weeks later, Deepa (my fairy godmother, as I like to think of her) sent me a picture of these two Golden siblings, Griffin and Nora, and said the family was giving them up. She thought our home would be a perfect fit. I still remember our first visit to meet these kids and how Griffin put his head on my lap, and Nora, the naughtiest girl, tried to pull my scrunchie off my hair. My heart was too full of grief to make that decision, but my husband decided that we would bring the kids home and give them a family. It’s almost been 2 years now! How these two have filled my grief-stricken heart with all the love is unbelievable. Nora is the sharpest, quickest, naughtiest dog I’ve ever come across. She loves chasing away birds and cats, stealing food from everyone possible, and tries to catch mosquitoes and flies. Griffin, on the other hand, is a gentle giant who is also fiercely protective of us and his sister. He loves to eat, sleep, cuddle with us, and watch TV. I cannot imagine my life without these two! I guess my angel Juno sent them from Doggy Heaven to fill our lives with excitement, chaos, love, and happiness once again!
