South City 1 was blessed with a lot of open areas and beautiful parks! but the monsoons come and there is a lot of water logging everywhere.
However, one park I walk in regularly has done what we need to do in every park. This park in D Block is maintained by the residents, and they have a water harvesting system that takes care of excess water, while helping raise the underground water levels.
It is also home to many flowering and fruit trees…. mango, jamun, amla, bel, guava and custard apples to name a few!
Most of the shrub plantation has been done by planting cuttings during the monsoon season.
And now that MCG has handed over maintenance of parks to residents, we look forward to having water harvesting systems in each park.
