Green Park Association Continues Tradition

Celebrates Lohri With Residents

Continuing it’s tradition, RWA Green park main celebrated the festival of Lohri with its  residents at Agrasen Park this year too.  About 35 residents, including some children, celebrated it together. Most of the executive committee members of the RWA were present on the occasion.

Panditji from Shiv Mandir had been invited to start the proceedings, which he did by applying tika to everyone’s forehead followed by chanting of some mantras and lighting the Lohri fire, that had already been set up with wood in one corner of the park.

Two foreign guests from Poland were also present to witness this celebration and were enthusiastic about getting their forehead anointed with tika as well as asking questions about the celebration.

Once the fire had started , a sweet was offered to all  and   plates of  traditional offerings of Lohri; Rewri, Peanuts and Popcorn were passed around to throw in the fire and take rounds, which everyone did , while enjoying the warmth of the Lohri fire on the cold night.

Hot coffee was served to all and everyone was seen enjoying the chance to meet fellow residents and catch up. All in all it was a joyous occasion, which brought many residents out of their houses  on this cold night of January 13th.
