Almost 2 years ago, in the month of Sep 2021, NFC RWA (Ashoka Park) along with DDISL and MCD carried out a large scale drive on Gurudwara Road in New Friends Colony, in an attempt to educate all, especially the residents of the neighbouring urban villages about the disadvantages of using “plastic”, and further to try and have both (residents and their staff of the colony as also residents of the urban villages) begin using “cloth bags” instead. The RWA had also distributed over 5000 cloth bags to all purchasers. These bags were purchased from an NGO by funds contributed by some residents of the colony. Some change in the mindset of the people could be seen for some time, but seems did not last long. But the intention to TRY needs to continue.
Few days ago, a resident saw one or two guards distributing cloth bags to a few staff members who had come to the vegetable vendor to purchase vegetables. The resident was forced to disembark from the car and congratulate the guards for the good deed. It seems that the entire hard work of the residents and RWA has worked, is working and not died! Indeed, kudos to the security guards.
