Celebrations time – What’s our first thoughts and visualization?
Some Fireworks, Lights and Sound, but we often move ahead to see its residuals and its harmful effects.
Well the first known Crackers originated in China, yes China again, in 2nd century BC.
People threw bamboos in bonfires during festive times and due to air pockets in the bamboos it bursted and made noise with fire sparks going all around.
It later for ease of operations it developed into a huge chemical based fireworks industry.
In India the green crackers were designed by the National Environmental and Engineering Research Institute (NEERI), a CSIR lab.
Green crackers are 30% less polluting than regular ones. It still creates 70% pollution, we must now. These are costlier than regular crackers due to higher grade chemicals used in it. It’s more of a guilt reduction effort at a higher cost.
Say it’s like absorbing the oil on a tissue paper when eating Chola Bhatura, you feel happy that it’s less oily. Hahaha
The traditional firecrackers in fact moved into Grey market due to restrictions. There was enough available away from the eye.
The intensity of Cracker bursting in Noida was experienced a shade higher than past few years in some of the societies and sectors. While only a few areas were silent.
Is it because of lack of awareness campaigns or is it a build up of festive enthusiasm post covid? Think about it ?
