As we geared up to celebrate the Grand Diwali Mela, the pavements and the park area got lit up by different lights, sparkly fairy lights, disco lights and LED lights. The area also got brightened
with Chandni Chowk festive decorations like diyas and lanterns. The complete rehearsal was done a day before the programme.

Diwali the festival of lights, gets a wave of enthusiasm and happiness for all. On Friday Oct.21, 2022 Ram Vihar celebrated the spectacular Diwali Mela after 2 years of Covid lockdown with full josh and excitement. The event started at 6.30 p.m. and lasted till 10.30 p.m.  The highlights of the evening were games stalls organised by children and coordinated by Vanita Agarwal, C-311. There was trampoline and Micky House structure for children much before the mela. Food stalls were put up by parents and some outsiders also. There was a lucky draw and the most wanted Tambola. On the occasion of Diwali, this time we kept a unique and interesting Bumper Tambola and snow ball with very big and attractive  prizes.

Food is the heart and soul of a party. Sadhana Mishra, E -419 had Mumbai Pao vada and Pao bhaji stall. The vadas were sold like hot cakes and finished in no time. Sweta Sabarwal G-228 prepared  lip smacking biryani( veg and non veg.) and delicious cake. Vaibhav Yadav, C-610 runs a catering business for house and out door parties. Since Chinese food is loved by all, he put up a stall with different Chinese starters and main course of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. The stall did a very good business.

Neerja Mohan, C- 310, Kritika Bhatia, C-712 and Richa Gupta B- 308 put up sale of fancy Diwali items and also home linen. The ladies made a good profit and got lot of support and appreciation  by the residents.

Two ladies from our society Mala Sharma, E-005 and Anju Koorichh, C- 309 set up a classy table with the statues of Ganeshji and Lakshmiji. Fresh rose and marigold flowers and petals were used which added aroma to the place. They also used a variety of earthern diyas and floating candles with intricate patterns. Besides diyas, the table had an array of other festive decorations. This décor was appreciated by one and all.

We had a lucky draw. Tickets were sold beforehand. Response was very good. Seven big prizes were given to the lucky winners. To encourage the children who had put up the games stalls, chocolates were given and parents who had put up the food stalls received sweet boxes.
This was a well planned and well organized event. Children and adults with their guests had a wonderful time after a long time.

We look forward to another mega event like this before  2022 comes to an end.
