On the occasion of Tulsi Vivah, Ma Tulsi received shingar with colourful chunris and was placed in Vivah mandap along with Shaligram ji. Both received shagun envelopes and clothes as gifts. After jaimala, vivah rituals were performed, attended by 50/60 devotees. As per manyata – Asur Jalandhar had created havoc all over the earth and could not be killed even by Mahadev due to the protection by his wife Brinda’s pativrata dharma. Lord Vishnu took the disguise of Asur Jalandhar,. His deception destroyed Brinda’s dharma. Since the kavach was destroyed, Asur Jalandhar was killed. Brinda gave a sermon to lord Vishnu to become shaligram, who promised Brindha that she will be born as Tulsi in her next birth and lord Vishnu will marry her in the Karthik month, shukla paksh ekadashi. Hence Tulsi Vivah is celebrated every year on this day. Due to ekadashi, prasad was made without anaaj.
