Municipal corporation of Chandigarh organised Swachchh Samman Samroh on October 2, the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi. During the program different services of the persons involved in Swacchta Abhiyan were recognised.
Honourable Governor of Punjab, and chief Administrator of Chandigarh did the honours and awarded prizes. During the program services of Vijay Pal Goel, an active member of Senior Citizens Forum, Prateek Wisteria and a champion of cleanliness drive and environmental protection were also recognised and he was honoured by the honourable Governor Shri Banwari Lal Purohit for creating art pieces from the waste. Shri Goel started making artifacts from the sanitary solid waste material. Chandigarh administration created a museum by the name Kala Sagar in Sector 47, Chandigarh. Earlier also the good work work done by Shri Goel has been recognised and he has been awarded by the governor a number of times. During the last Diwali festival also Shri Goel had taken the initiative to protect the areas inside the houses from oil spillage from earthen lamps by distributing wooden coasters free of cost to the residents of PW.
