GO Celebrates Republic Day

The morning of 26 January saw the residents of Grand Omaxe come together to celebrate India’s 76th Republic Day. A mildly cold morning welcomed the march past by a select group of the society’s guards. This was followed by welcoming the chief guests from the field of education – Dr. Vandana Sharma, Chairperson, Mata Bhagwanti Chadha Niketan, and Poonam Kumar Mendiratta, Principal, The Manthan School, Greater Noida West. The chief guests along with a few members of the board of management unfurled the tricolour.

The president of the board and the chief guests shared their thoughts on the occasion. This was followed by a reward and recognition ceremony where select members of the staff were awarded for their contribution.

Then started the fun-filled activities of the day. To stir up the residents a quiz session about interesting Republic Day trivia was done, where both children and adults participated with full gusto and enthusiasm.

The much-awaited cultural performances followed with children and adults performing different items including dance, songs, speeches, instrumental and even a self-written poem.

During the performances, we were also graced by Sohanveer Singh, the Chowki Incharge of Panchsheel Thana, who also gave away prizes to the performers.

And the grand finale was the bhandaara that was arranged by one of the residents. People of all ages whole-heartedly participated in serving food to everyone in langar style. The menu of puri-aloo, kaddu ki sabzi, bajra khichdi, raita and halwa were a great hit with everybody.

So, while India celebrated becoming a republic, Grand Omaxe celebrated the recently concluded elections which happened after a long break; and now all of us look forward to a period of good self-governance.
