I have often wondered if the significance of glamour as understood by young mothers was in consonance with that of young grandmothers. This led me to approach Surbhi Pahuja, a Chartered Accountant by profession, and the owner of a salon in South City 1. She has quite recently entered the realms of motherhood and hence was the perfect choice as a testing ground.
When asked about what she thought was the essence of glamour, she replied, “Being from the glamour industry, where our work is to make people look glamorous from the outside, I believe that glamour is more about inner values than just outer looks. To me, glamour is also about being cordial, respectful and kind. If you are a good and genuine person, that will show on the outside as the real you, and at the end of the day, nothing is more glamorous than a beautiful, genuine smile.”
Surbhi believes that glamour is also about carrying oneself well, respecting one’s body and working towards keeping fit, both physically as well as mentally. She has been practising yoga for many years and has made it an integral part of her day during her pre as well as post-natal journey.
Her belief in minimalism makes Surbhi an active volunteer at ‘Slim Homes’ wherein pre-owned items are sold at markedly reduced rates, and a brand-new concept is sold for free.
‘Slim Homes’ has a first-hand experience of Surbhi being true to her word and honouring her commitments, which adds to her allure. In the photo, Surbhi is wearing a beautiful dupatta, bought from ‘Slim Homes’.
As the interview came to a close, I was glad to note that our young Star of the month, Surbhi, still held onto the old-school essence of being glamorous.
