Why should women have all the fun and glamour? Men especially those who enhance beauty, and redesign the contours in men and women can be showstoppers too. We are talking about Dr. Amit Gupta, one of India’s senior Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, residing in our very own GK2. With a career spanning over two decades, he has masterfully been sculpting bodies, creating joy, and giving hair-raising experiences to many. Sharing a piece of his professional and personal life along with his thoughts:-
“I belong to an army background, with my father retiring from the Armed Forces- discipline, sincerity, and honesty came naturally. My journey started in 1994, in the month of June, when I took my 1st steps in Maulana Azad Medical College. I did not know that I would only leave this amazing institution in 2008 after completing my Plastic Surgery. However, I was not initially destined to be a Plastic Surgeon. Destiny at that time took me towards a Super Specialist Course in Cardiac Surgery. Fate intervened, I dropped cardiac surgery and took up Plastic Surgery. The beautiful journey started that day. Plastic Surgery is Art marrying science, creation, aesthetics, surgery, anatomy, skills, precision, and beauty, all rolled into one.
I did my fellowships in Aesthetic Surgery from Brazil and Belgium, and over the last 19 years of active practice, I have consulted 61000+ patients, and treated 27000+ Patients. Over the years innovated techniques in hair transplant, breast implant, and male gynecomastia surgery. We are the only center in India to perform Long hair transplant
On a more personal front, some of my loves are fitness, playing the violin, writing, and traveling. I have run 5 half marathons, and believe that fitness today means fewer hospital visits later. I have been playing the violin for the last 5 years, with a dedicated channel on Instagram. I have written 5 books, one among them a travel book, dedicated to my road trip to Iceland. I enjoy road trips both National and International. Some of my favorite destinations to drive to are Switzerland, France, Thailand, and Germany.
Closer to home, my wife Deepti is the backbone of our center. She handles the marketing and business activity. My elder son is pursuing engineering at one of India’s premier institutes, while my daughter is in class XI at Mother’s International school. We have another tiny family member truffles.
Food is my favourite go-to thing after Netflix Or maybe before. Street food is my happy spot. I don’t really relish fine dining but put me in with street food and I am in a different world altogether. Glamour is something of a personal choice. Wearing a Gucci? Is it glamour? Not for me. If anyone sees me at work, I would be found wearing multicolored scrubs in satin. I love the feel of satin. For me, glamour is what I feel inside me when I wear it. I have probably never worn any clothes for someone else’s eyes. I do what makes me happy. Being glamourous is about strength and confidence. If you feel glamorous, you definitely look glamorous, Or we can make you look so!!”
On that humourous note, we wrap up our conversation with a doctor who is passionate about what he does especially in making the world look more beautiful.
