GKRA’s Poster Campaign Against Hospital Shakes up DLF into Filing a Caveat in High Court

Imagine a Life next to a 400 bed Hospital??? Wailing Sirens all day & night, Chemist Shops & Vendors Lining Hansraj Gupta Marg, Negotiating Traffic Snarls to reach Home, Footpaths as Temporary Homes and what it will do to the already Strained Infrastructure and Environment is best left to one’s imagination.

The GKRA Poster Campaign pictorially presented the future that awaits GK-I if the Creed of DLF and Collusion of MCD/DDA is allowed. Why are people suspecting Collusion is the manner in which all the departments are evading RTI Queries? Multiple Departments are forwarding RTI’s from one to the other, without revealing a shred of information. Only the Delhi Fire Service has informed that they have given a Clearance, YES the same department that takes 25 minutes to reach E-Block from Nehru Place…  How and who gave this clearance will be interesting to know?

It was thanks to Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj who prevailed upon MCD to part with some information on how the permissions were obtained. While the whole Country was locked up at home due to Covid, when Social & Cultural NGOs were setting up Makeshift Hospitals in open grounds, DLF & Medanta were Looking for Aapda Mein Afsar. No, they did not make a makeshift hospital to help the suffering, they were extracting clearances from MCD & DDA.

Bending the Law like Beckham, is the best to describe on how DDA paved the way for this Hospital. The Law does not allow two adjacent plots by even the same owner to be Amalgamated into one unit… The rules do not permit DDA/MCD to allow amalgamation of two individual Plots which are more than 32 sqm in size. The Plots in question, are 1 acre each.

There are other glaring oversights like total disregard to Environment Impact Assessment or MPD-2021 Provision for mandatory consultation with Local RWA’s and Residents etc. GKRA is in the process of preparing a petition to seek relief from The Delhi High Court.

Meanwhile DLF on seeing GKRA’s Poster Campaign has rushed to High Court with a Caveat, so that they too can be heard. In a statement to the press DLF claims they were only trying to set up a Hospital as there was a huge shortfall of beds during Covid. What The Real Reason Is, Is Best Left To Public’s Imagination.

We will move a petition in court against this matter as it threatens the wellbeing of our residents and the future.
