We, the residents of GK-2, are truly fortunate to find our abode in a highly posh and affluent colony of our city. But, could we pause to do a reality check on the state of affairs of our area. We just need to scratch the surface to expose the skeletons hidden underneath the gloss and veneer of the gleamed exterior of our colony in which we bask. The civic apathy and the residents’ callousness have started corroding the sheen of our prestigious colony that can prove to be our major undoing unless immediate steps are taken to salvage the situation and restore our fast eroding glory. A few well-meaning residents have been coming forward from time to time to share the issues plaguing GK-2 and their expectations from the Civic Authorities as well as the fellow residents that we will be highlighting in this column starting this month onwards.
Is GK-2 becoming a huge Garbage Dump? (With inputs from Mr MK Sehgal, Mr Shiv Ramchandani & Mr Puneet Malhotra)
No matter where you are, your eye cannot miss the heaps of garbage that lie strewn all over in GK-2. The colony lanes are sparingly cleaned and even when the sweeping does take place, its quality leaves much to be desired. The garbage collected from homes is left to rot in the several garbage dumps that dot the colony. The over spilling garbage does not just stick out as an eyesore, but also poses health hazard. The images of the filthy garbage dumps showcase the unfortunate plight and helplessness of the residents. The Civic Authorities must get their act together and ensure regular removal of garbage from the dumps in the colony. Not just this, the dump yards need to sprayed with insecticides at proper intervals.
