Beauty lies in being yourself. For Vandana lal, a W block resident of GK 2, this has been her guiding principle for as long as she can remember. Raised in a close- knit joint family, Vandana has always been guided by her sense of family values to be authentic and compassionate to everyone and be true to herself in her passions. Her initiation into her career began in the skies as she chose to serve with Air India as one of the few chosen members as their prestigious in-flight crew and continued for fifteen years with dedication and finesse. She not only completed her duties but took on the additional role of grooming the crew, as was assigned to her by her superiors, on watching her inimitable style and confidence. She has always laid special emphasis on styling and adding beauty and glamour through personal efforts for herself and her colleagues and friends, wherever she has worked, embedding herself into organizations with her flair to revamp the ordinary but as life would have it, she had to take the tough decision to pause her flying career to spend more time with her children and family in the last decade. Vandana was back in the saddle not too long after, starting a professional makeover studio in 2012.
Her expertise in this domain held her in good stead and her clientele included the top names in fashion and glamor, including Ritu Kumar and Sabyasachi Mukherjee. She also made over women with her deft hands and skills, allowing them city- wide attention at their weddings. Her continuing success lies on a simple motto : enhance the features of people whilst retaining their identity. If beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder, then Vandana has her finger on the pulse as she knows how to style individuals with her sense of detail and finesse, never doing more than what looks fresh, beautiful and natural.
While her make over has changed people’s evenings with compliments, Vandana had to put her brushes down during the Covid lockdown phase due to the terminal illness of her father and press pause again to put her family first. Unstoppable as she is, gathering strength from dealing with her setbacks, she is back again, stronger than before, with her skills and her attitude to finding more people to help with her efforts that not only include makeovers but also the education of underprivileged children that is a huge project she heads with dedication and untiring efforts. A bright and cheerful person, Vandana epitomizes beauty with her own personality and altruism.
She lives with no regrets, as she says, and that is what makes way for more happiness and success in her life. We, at Samvada, salute her positive spirit and wish her more success!
