If you see a wave of red, white and green taking over the city, then you know it’s Christmas!
What makes the festival so special is the joy and excitement it brings along in the form of
many well decorated markets and the happening carnivals in the city. The Christmas cheer spread in our colony too when GKIIWA organized a Christmas carnival on Sunday 25th December 2022 after a long Covid induced gap. Each one of us, irrespective of our faith, indulged in the magic of this carnival. Although the GKIIWA Christmas carnival was just a one day event, it was preceded by a lot of effort spanning over several days necessitating meticulous planning so as to make the occasion joyful and attractive to all. For the kids, this is specially a season for getting their wishes granted, to meet Santa Claus, to relish the specially created Christmas feast and enjoy the joyrides. The big bouncy ride was a huge favourite for all the children visiting the Carnival. Kunzum Cafe did a story telling session on stage to inculcate reading habit among children. In addition, the carnival had a variety of stalls for shopping like home décor, apparels, books, body products and food items.
A stage event was organized for children where they could perform whatever they wished to. Besides instilling confidence in children, such initiatives also motivate them when they receive certificates of participation and gifts for their efforts.
This carnival had live musical home guard band and a live musical stage band that played Christmas carols to add to the spirit of festivity. The lucky draw at the carnival was an added attraction that rounded up the visit to the carnival very well. Some well-known personalities who graced the occasion by their presence included our MP and Union Minister Ms Meenakshi Lekhi, our MCD Councilor Ms. Ashu Thakur, GKI MCD Councilor Ms Shikha Rai, former MCD Councilor Mr Subhash Badhana and CR Park SHO Mr Ritesh Kumar.
