GJCSCF monthly meeting wad held on 25th January at T.T. room of Gulmohar Centre 4:30 pm onwards. Forum’s President Mr Subhash Saluja welcomed
the members for the special evening of Republic day celebrations He mentioned that the day’s programme’ based on patriotic songs, flower decoration at his table and food organization is based on tricolor to celebrate the 76th Republic day. He informed that Forum’s senior most member Mr. Subhash Vidyalankar, former Vice Chancellor of Gurukul Haridwar, author of many books, former editor of Yojana and Shiksha magazine expired on 18th January at Mannila. He was 96 years old. He celebrated his 96th birthday on 15th January. Two minutes of silence was observed in memory of the departed member.
The evening’s cultural programme was dedicated to patriotism and Republic day. Forum’s newly elected cultural Secretary Mrs Malvika Thakur had taken a lot of initiative to connect the artists and chalk out the programme very efficiently. With her efforts we all enjoyed an evening full of patriotic emotions.
The comparing of the cultural events was done by Fourm’s Cultural Secretary Mrs Pushpa Mishra. She presented all events with her well versed commentary. The first performer of the day was Mrs Pratima Chaturvedi who recited her self composed poem ‘‘मेरा भारत महान’’ in which she highlighted flora and fauna and physical characteristics of India which was appreciated by all with huge applause.
The next song मेरे देश की धरती सोना उगले in duet was presented by the president Mr Subhash Saluja and Mr. R.C. Gupta. All of us were moved by the fine words of Upkar’s famous song.
Next chorus was sang by Mrs Malvika, Shashi Bhardwaj, Krishna Dev and Anu Arora on हिन्द देश के निवास. Mr. Vimal Bhan presented होठों पर सच्चाई रहती है and Mr.Vijay Sharma जहाँ डाल डाल पर सोने की चिड़िया करती बसेरा Both the singers were appreciated by huge applause. After that Mr. VInay Thakur recited Makhanlal Chaturvedi’s famous poem पुष्प की अभिलाषा मुझे तोड़ लेना वनमाली. After that all singers presented seven filmy songs based on ‘‘वतन’’ words. Ms Kanta Joshi presented a self composed poem “बदलते जीवन मूल्य और राष्ट्रीय पर्व“. Mrs. Malvika and Shashi Bhardwaj presented ‘‘आ चल के तुझे’’ – After that Mr. Vinay Thakur presented Hari Vansh Rai Bachchan’s poem एक और जंजीर तडकी है भारत मा की जय. Next song was presented by Malvika, Shashi, Krishnaji and Annu ‘‘छोड़ो कल की बातें’’।
It was a well knit programme for one and half hours and every one was moved by patriotic songs. The event was celebrated by tricolour decoration at the President’s table done in saffron, green and white flowers and even the iddlies for refreshment were in tricolours.
Mr. Subhash Saluja, the President of the forum in his vote of thanks appreciated all the singers and contributors. The most important contributor of the programme was Mr. Virender Saluja who accompanied all the singers with his rhythm in Banjo.
The program was followed by cutting of cake and presenting token birthday gifts to all the members whose birthday falls in the month of January by Forum’s senior most member Mr .KM.Azad. All members enjoyed Idli-sambar from the club kitchen.
