GJCSCF held its monthly meeting on 30th June at Gulmohar Centre’s TT Hall 5 PM onwards. A large number of members joined the event. Y Sahay, the President welcomed all the members. He informed the house with a heavy heart, the sudden and untimely demise of our senior member Pushpa Mishraji’s grandson at a very young age. Two minutes silence was observed in memory of the departed soul.
After that he said ‘show must go on’ and announced name of June born members and wished them a happy, healthy and prosperous year ahead. Though we were not able to receive funds (aid) from the government so far, we are still trying. Even so, during this period we had more than 150 specialist talks on different medical problems, social security, Legal matters, Senior citizen rights how to protect you, yoga, life stays, we had our monthly meetings regularly where we have tried to promote our members talent and organize useful talks, have organized so many cultural programmes open for all Gulmohrions. We are regularly celebrating the birthdays of members with cutting of cakes and token gift on birthdays and Diwali.
He further informed the members that on June 23rd, our forum has completed eight successful years. Down the memory lane, he said four people Mr Shkadhar, Mr Kapasi, Mr S Saluja, Mr Sahay have thought of starting a forum for senior citizens. Later Mr Ishwar Bhardwaj. Mr Vikaram, Mrs Rubi Guha, Ms K Joshi joined them and the process for registration started. Mr. Saluja offered his house address for registration. With the efforts of Mr Saluja, Mr.I C Bhardwaj, Mr Sahay, it was registered on June 23 rd 2016.
The forms of membership were distributed to all households of all senior citizens at Gulmohar Park. There was a mixed reaction. Some joined, some waited, some criticized as it happens in any new venture but today it’s a proud moment to announce we have come a long way. Our forum is registered with Neeti Ayog, Delhi Sr. Citizen, Council, Delhi Social Welfare Department. Our members’ cooperation, contribution, comradeship, enthusiasm and unity is our strength and we hope our forum will flourish day by day.
After that Madhu Bhandari gave a sentence to the first person in the front row, to be repeated in the ear of the second person, so on and so forth. When the last person announced the sentence, it was quite different from the original sentence. But Mr Vinay Thakur, the first person, was able to repeat the sentence correctly in the end so he won the prize. Then she distributed a questionnaire to all to be completed in 16 minutes. Mr I C Bhardwaj was declared the first and Sheel Aditya, the second highest scorer and were given prizes. This was followed by cutting of cake and birthday celebrations.
The President said that we are organizing picnics and excursions for our members regularly. At this stage he also wanted to mention that though the forum is not able to receive grant (fund) from the Government so far, the Forum is grateful to all those silent and other donors who have generously contributed to the forum. Our forum is providing rebates under rule 80 G and 12 c in income tax to all our donors.
The forum has started its E-Magazine ‘Young Heart’ in November 2022 and we are having its issue every month from the Editor of Magazine Mr Umesh Sadev. Mr Azad presented token gifts to all birthday boys and girls.
