Getting the Monkeys Off Our Backs!

On Sunday, 25 June morning, a PH2 house help got hurt by two monkeys. She was waiting at the door for the resident to open when one monkey grabbed her from behind & the other held her leg.The house help panicked & began screaming. By the time the resident rushed to the door, the monkeys ran away. The house help’s back was scratched where the monkey had tried to grab her.

She saw the doctor immediately & was treated on time. Withins two days, she started working again.

Seems like a simple incident but with an alarming issue. Earlier, monkeys managed to get into people’s homes for food. Aware of the layout, monkeys used to head straight into the kitchen, without harming anyone.

When everyone became cautious & started keeping their doors & windows locked, they began feeding themselves from the dustbin. Soon, even that access was closed as everyone started waiting for the housekeeping to ring the bell for the garbage.

An empty stomach can make anyone aggressive, can’t it? This might be the reason for monkeys to attack. It’s not residents’ fault & neither is it of monkeys. The solution to this is to respect your safety while respecting the other living beings’ identity.

With that, swift action is a must. Initially, multiple residents filed complaints at the FMG office. But for months no action was taken. This unfortunate incident ruffled quite a few feathers that forced the FMG department to get in touch with the forest care department immediately.

It is the duty of the forest care department to catch monkeys & leave them in a jungle, where they belong. Like we have a home, they will have their home too. When everyone will be happy in their spaces, how anyone could ever get harmed?
