Geo tagging of properties has been made mandatory by MCD, all over Delhi to claim a timely rebate of 10 % while paying property tax in the financial year 2024-25.
There were many glitches in the server of MCD in the initial phase, when the scheme was launched in Dec’23. Three extensions were given, as lakhs of property owners could not accomplish the task in the first month, because of faulty web site of MCD.
However, now most of the glitches have been removed & those conversant with the operation of smart phones find it quite easy to upload the details. But it is still a big challenge for senior citizens, who are hesitant to upload the data.
A young boy, Raghav, a resident of S Block GK 1, prodded by his maternal grandfather, volunteered to help Sr citizens of the block in geo tagging their properties.
His grandfather, who is the President of S Block Welfare Society, taught him the basics & explained the advantages of geo tagging. Raghav could upload the property details of his grandfather’s & his mother’s property in S Block within a matter of minutes. MK Gupta posted this pro bono service, rendered by Raghav in the S Block whatsapp groups. With in the first two days, he helped a couple of Sr Citizens in geo tagging eight floors of their properties. Lot of appreciative messages and blessings are pouring in. Few messages flashed by residents are being shared here:
In fact, Raghav, a bright student of 9th Std of DPS RK Puram had just finished his exams & waiting for the results & thus having school holidays, decided to utilize this time by helping citizens of the block.
A good decision & a good habit, which should be inculcated in the young generation.
