The Lok Sabha General Election 2024 for Noida was held on Friday, 26 April. The Election Commission of India (ECI) made elaborate arrangements for convenient poling. It deputed its employees in many Noida societies with voting lists and all details to enable citizens to vote conveniently.
There were SMSes also from various groups to inform voters about their voter details. But, most importantly, this time, the ECI installed polling booths within many of the societies. In Boulevard, there were three booths installed numbered 494, 495 and 496.
Surprisingly, there was no rush in booth numbers 494 and 495 but a heavy rush in booth no. 496. The enthusiasm in youngsters was huge. Many of them were at the booth at 7 AM itself. They waited in the queue for more than 1.5 hours for their turn.
The senior citizens, who walk in the mornings, too came to vote in the morning itself. However, even as the day progressed, the waiting time continued to be one hour+ at booth no. 496. Contrastingly, the waiting time for the other two booths was five minutes only.
By the close of the day, the overall voting percentage for Boulevard was 68.8%. This was a really good percentage compared to the 54% turnout in GB Nagar overall. Certainly, the installation of the convenient polling stations in the society premises contributed to this huge turnout.
