There will hardly be any home in urban dwellings that doesn’t own at least few plants, of course potted ones.  Some may be lucky to own a patch of land and growing plants in ground. Despite having well groomed gardens and green cover in almost all societies still the desire to keep potted plants is like having many other essentials in home. It’s simply because of natural urge to keep close connect with nature and mother earth. Having plants at home should be treated like members at home, looked after well, clean and healthy. Once you buy any house plant you must pay attention to their needs of sunlight, water and nourishment. It’s never the number but the health and happiness of plants that makes our homes inviting and beautiful. Once you have selected the plants and pots next comes the placement. There are plants that are preferred for living spaces while some are good for rest rooms. Also some plants on kitchen window sill not only look good but give us regular supply of herbs and microgreens. Here is a list of houseplants that are beautiful to look at, keep the indoor air clean and fresh and some are even insect repellants-

Pothos, Palms, Draceanas and Syngho-niums for living rooms, Sanseveria, Peace Lily, Chlorophytum etc for bedrooms, Tulsi, Basil, Currypatta and other herbs for kitchen window sill/service area while Adeniums, Jasmine, Aglonemas etc are ideal for sunny spots in balconies or entrance.

There is an endless choice but the crucial thing is right selection and commitment to look after these well. Gardening is an art with many facets. It’s not only plants in pots but the displays that can make any place a spot of attraction. The thumb rule for having happy plants is regular care and concern.
