Garden of the Month

Mohini Arjun, C-43, Has Exotic Plants Collected from All Over The World in Her Garden

Mohini Arjun was working with British Airways before marriage and got married in 1963 to shift to Defence Colony with her husband Col. R. D. Arjun. Her father-in-law was a champion in gardening and won many prizes for his home garden. He developed many innovative plants for his garden and was known for his hobby of gardening. Mohini, who is now 86 years old, learned the techniques of creative gardening from her father-in-law and has been enjoying this hobby by growing her own seedlings of petunia poncy, impatient dahlia, and larkspur. She loves to create green foliage plants like adenium, ferns, and a variety of palms. As a super senior who spends more than 3-4 hours every day keeping occupied and content with life, she is a role model for the new generation who must learn from this most gracious lady to create more and more oxygen in and around our houses.

Mohini has a full-fledged library for the gardening-related books, which she keeps adding to every month after reading the new ways of home gardening. Mohini is famous for her generous nature, gifting her newly developed plants and seedlings. The neighbours keep visiting her house to learn the art of gardening and also to get some exotic plants and seeds as a sweet gift. Mohini has many exotic plants collected from all over the world by her family, friends, and herself during her travels. She also has a large variety of organic vegetables, like lemons, tomatoes, Shimla mirch, chillies, ladyfingers, and so many more in her kitchen garden.
