‘Arushea Kapoor has more than 200 plants, shrubs & creepers’
To continue with our series highlighting our residents who are putting personal effort to make our colony greener and most beautiful, this month, we visited a young resident (27 years) of Defence colony, Arushea Kapoor (C-166 Def col) who is a nature lover from birth and is enjoying her hobby of gardening to keep her house full of oxygen. Here’s what Kapoor had to say, Since my birth, I used to see my nanu (Late Mr. O.P. Bajaj) and nani (Mrs. Bajaj) watering plants, getting new plants and spending long hours sitting in the front home garden since morning. I used to observe my nanu and nani reading newspaper with a hot cup of tea in this small garden.
Once I grew up as a teenager, this hobby of gardening came automatically in me and my brother Abhishek who used to gift me new plants on every occasion. I have been visiting various nurseries In Delhi, Noida and Gurgaon to look for new variety of seasonal and evergreen plants, pots, fertilizers and other gardening equipment. Now I can boast of more than 200 plants, shrubs and creepers in our personal garden.
I enjoy sitting with my laptop for my office work in the garden to get more and more oxygen. My friends take selfies and share on social media which also motivates me immensely. I would also like to add that I have learnt professional gardening with the help of our gardener who is quite good at taking care of our plants along with me and my mother.
We are also growing some medicinal plants along with some veggies for our kitchen. These vegetables are purely grown organically for our family and few lucky neighbors. I take this opportunity to thank my grandparents, mother and many well-wishers who motivated me to create this greenery around us.
