To anyone following the news cycle about Gurgaon in the last 6 months, it would be apparent that the idea of Swachh Bharat was not guiding the Mantra for its residents and officials. Numerous press stories have been appearing about tonnes of garbage on the roads and empty plots in the city and complaints of irregularity in Garbage collection. In this context, SCRWA also complained to MCG about the lack of cleanliness and garbage collection in South City 1. While the cleanliness issue is still unresolved, the MCG team did respond about the garbage collection and in the 1st week of January authorised a new vendor YLV associates to collect household garbage.
SCRWA EC believed in the updated adage of “Garbage is the new gold” and decided to use the opportunity to garner some revenues for our beleaguered association. We are pleased to announce that the new vendor has agreed to contribute towards the development of South City-1 and committed a transfer of a reasonable amount into the SCRWA account every month.
Money was not the only guiding light for this change of guards. The agreement with the new Vendor mentions that the vendor will follow all norms specified by MCG under the PM’s Swachh Bharat Mission. The Vendor must organise timely and orderly collection of segregated household waste. All residents are requested to segregate garbage at the source. Please remember that MCG can fine any resident for providing unsegregated garbage.
The vendor has also committed to resolving any issue related to garbage collection immediately and SCRWA has the right to terminate services if the vendor does not resolve reported issues in a reasonable timeframe.
Any residents facing any systemic issue with garbage collection can report it by email to scrwa.gurgaon@gmail.com and the SCRWA EC team will try to get it resolved by the vendor. For normal day-to-day issues in this regard, please call the Supervisor whose contact has been shared in the SCRWA Members WhatsApp group and Google group.
