The most common injury to garbage collectors is cuts in hand. This happens when people mix broken glass pieces with household garbage. In A Block Extension, the RWA has been noticing such incidents. From time to time, residents are reminded how to segregate Waste. Recently there was an incident when cut glass was mixed and the collector got cuts. He had to be rushed to hospital.
We all need to be more considerate towards those who are helping us keep our homes & other locations clean and safe.
We should avoid mixing Hazardous materials like batteries, chemicals, bleach or otherwise chemically reactive items that can cause serious harm to those collecting Garbage.
We need to train our housekeepers and maids so they learn the segregation of waste and these incidents can be avoided.
