Mosquito Mayhem, Overgrown Grass Turns Parks into Breeding Grounds
Residents of Noida’s Sector 41 are facing a number of civic issues, including erratic garbage collection and water logging. The garbage collection truck, which is supposed to visit the lanes once a week, often takes unscheduled breaks, leaving residents to deal with overflowing waste. This issue is not limited to one lane, with many residents reporting similar problems.
The recent water logging in the area has led to a surge in mosquito breeding, with parks in the sector becoming breeding grounds for larvae. The overgrowth of grass in parks, particularly in G block, has also raised concerns about the presence of snakes.
Residents are calling on the RWA to address these issues urgently, including ensuring regular garbage collection and fogging to control mosquito populations. The lack of effective waste management and maintenance of public spaces is not only an eyesore but also a health hazard.
To make matters worse, residents have reported difficulties in getting their garbage collected, with some even being ignored by the collection truck. The Noida Authority must take immediate action to address these systemic issues.
The solutions to these problems are to ensure that the garbage collection truck visits each lane at a fixed time every week, conducting regular fogging and mosquito control measures to prevent breeding; maintaining public parks, including grass cutting and waterlogging prevention. We also need residents’ participation in waste management and public space maintenance.
The Noida Authority plans to launch a door-to-door garbage collection service in Sector 41, starting August 15, 2024. Additionally, the authority has allocated funds for the renovation of parks in the sector, including the G block park. While these developments are promising, residents remain skeptical until they see tangible results. The RWA and Noida Authority must work together to address these pressing issues and provide better civic amenities to residents.
By implementing these solutions and staying committed to addressing resident concerns, Sector 41 can become a cleaner, healthier, and more livable Sector.
