Gangaur is a festival celebrated by people from the northwestern regions of India. The festival signifies Gana meaning Shiv and Gaur meaning Gauri. It is celebrated to mark the return of Maa Parvati to her maternal home, after her marriage with Lord Shiv and then blessed all her married and unmarried friends with marital bliss.
People make idols of Shiv- Parvati and adorn them with ‘shringaar’. Some observe fasts on this day while some prepare sweet delicacies to feast upon. This year Mrs Usha Goel got Gangaur idols from the market and it was available for those observing the ritual to take home and complete their religious rituals. Kashyap’s however chose to prepare eco-friendly idols of Gangaur and immersed them in their garden after sunset.
