Thanks to the G20 delegation, the Gurgaon administration has sprung into action with uncharacteristic speed, and voilà, the Museo-Galleria road has metamorphosed, within a fortnight, into a swanky avenue, with a freshly paved footpath, replete with greens and flowers in full bloom. If you mistake the road for a prestigious Avenue in Lutyens Delhi, you are not to be blamed, this is nothing less than a miracle for us Gurgaon residents, who have now resigned themselves to the road less travel.
While the residents are happy that the road has finally been laid, there is an underlying sense of anger that stems from why this needed a G20 delegation! Numerous complaints by the residents at various levels, including articles in this very magazine, all had fallen on deaf ears but as soon as G20 meet is announced, within a fortnight, the entire area gets a complete facelift.
Let me not give in to scepticism, whatever the cause, as long as it results in an effective solution, we should be grateful. Of course have to give credit where it is due; the perseverance of Aditya Arya of Camera Museo, special efforts by Navdeep Suri of Ivy, and last but not the least, the DC, Nishant Yadav to execute this herculean task.
Now that the Museo-avenue has been constructed, another common emotion among the residents is fear; fear of the known that could ruin this all …the mindless khudai, by some or the other agency, the water logging and rains which is still a very plausible threat and ofcourse littering, a mistake we are all guilty of. While we do hope that the administration will make arrangements to maintain the road, think its time all stakeholders take ownership and ensure each maintains their own share of the road – the schools; Geetanjali, Little Footprints, Vidya Mandir, Pumpkin house, along with Ivy, Dlf IV, Chandralok, the plot owners, and even the traffic police office. We are all in this together.
And in the meanwhile, enjoy the smooth ride, as long as it lasts.
