Fruit and Vegetable Vendors in Sec 50 Market

by Ajay Mehra (C-162, Sector-50; 9818688976)

Noida Authority had quite some time back decided to instill some discipline into the haphazard vending activity in Sec 50 market. Towards this they created “Identical size Designated Vending Spaces” and post allotment permitted vending activity. The monthly rental was fixed at Rs 2,400 payable 6 months in advance. Metered electricity connection too was provided with payment extra on usage etc.
A lot of over-smart vendors took these shops, rented them out and moved on the other side of this road and elsewhere to re-establish themselves and their business activity.
RWA of the Sector 50, and strangely not the RWA of the Market Association, complained to Noida Authority who swung into action and razed the illegal establishments by vendors.
The RWA Sector 50, upon its own wisdom, permitted opening of a fruit/ vegetable vendor near ATS II to perhaps mitigate inconvenience caused by razing of illegal vendors.
The three main vegetable and fruit vendors have since moved into their shops, created by Authority earlier. As of now it would be wise and proper for RWA to close the shop of a vendor it had permitted earlier recently.
Continued operation permission shall be detrimental to discipline and fairness; moreover, it shall give a wrong signal which perhaps is not the intention of RWA. After all we do have a Mother Dairy booth next to Central Park and so-called exotic vegetables and fruits are available in the 3 newly re-located shops in the main market as hitherto earlier.
Other prospective vendors looking to get a toehold into the sector could get a wrong signal and false hope. We need to keep the residential portion of the sector free from commercial activity. As a neutral body, RWA needs to be uniformly fair to avoid any uncalled for criticism from any quarter.
