(I) Case of Bullying in School: In December 2024, an incident happened in one of the schools in Vasant Vihar. One of the students was being bullied by another student. The matter was going on for some time. The one being bullied was from Kusumberi Pahari and the one who was bullying was a jat from Munirka. The jat called his elder brother to help him in this fight. The two brothers beat up the poor guy from the slums. He was beaten up so badly that the whole jhuggi community was up in arms. The jat boy’s father offered 10 lakh compensation to the family of the deceased person. The school tried to keep this incident under wraps, so the school also offered some compensation. Now the whole incident is over, and life goes on. Such is life I guess.
(II) Survey being done in Bhahber Singh Camp. Could this be for the demolition of this camp?
A few years back a group of us had field an IPL in court for removing the clusters in Vasant Vihar.
The judgment had been given by the court for demolition but nothing came of it. So now the new survey is being done; may be it is to clear up the clusters. After all, they are all sitting illegally on government land. This is also a green belt and needs to be cleared.
(III) Lohri Celebration in Hill View: Lohri was celebrated in Hill View and about 30 residents attended the function. There was the usual bonfire and the singing and dancing around the fire. Lohri cannot be completed without rewaries and til ka laddu. Our association had also served samosa, tea and coffee.
We again look at the clusters.
That has grown in to such a dirty place.
a) Coolie Camp – This is the entry to a posh colony like Vasant Vihar. It is a shame that the cluster has become so big that it is overflowing from all sides. They have opened shops through their windows and also on the road. The kabariwalla has spread its wares onto the road, and the vegetable vendors have occupied the pavement and road. The MCD had made a wall around the camp but in most places, it is broken for easy escape. This places a sight for sore eyes.
b) Priya Complex – Well I think the complex inside is quite good and clean, but Munirka Marg has been taken over by the khokhas on both sides of the road. The shops have come up and have occupied the pavements. Do we need 25 pan shops in a small place? It is stretching on both sides of the road.
c) The entry road to Hill View from Munirka Marg is completely dark at night. The lights seem to have been taken away by some thieves, and as such the road stays dark. Accidents can and do happen from time to time. I myself have requested the MLA and the councilor to have the lights fixed, but so far without any result.
d) The taxi stand on our road is sitting illegally. We have tried to have it removed by the police and the MCD but have had no success so far. They park at least 4 mini travellers and 6 cars on this road. Can someone help? The taxi stand was also illegally given a water connection. We had got it disconnected by Jal Board, but the taxi stand has again taken the connection and is carrying on as before.
