In recent times, the popularity of home-cooked meals has skyrocketed with home chefs becoming trusted providers of fresh, hygienic, and delicious food offering a perfect alterna-tive to restaurant brands. What’s remarkable is that many women, without leaving the comfort of their homes, are now turning their kitchens slabs into workstations to prepare dishes on a bigger scale. The personal touch that home chefs provide, with fresh ingredients, clarity in preparation, and neatness are the key factors driving this trend. Many bachelors find it highly convenient and can enjoy the comfort of home-cooked meals without the need to hire expensive cooks or worry about grocery shopping and meal planning.
In our neighbourhood, one notable name in this thriving segment is Ekta Gupta, a talented chef from Supertech Emerald Court. What started as a small initiative from her kitchen has now become a household name, thanks to her dedication and the consistently delicious meals she offers. Appreciated by Silver City’s Avni Club, she plans a thoughtful menu and provides delicious food making her an indispensable part of our gatherings.
In Silver City several home chefs have emerged as local favorites. Urvi Shah, Deepshikha, and Smriti Mehrotra are well-known for their regional specialties. On the other hand, Anjani Misra has earned a reputation as a brilliant baker. Her cakes are go-to choice for birthdays and special occasions. In fact, she baked the first birthday cake for my daughter, and it was a work of art that made the event even more memorable. For those craving south Indian flavors, Supraja is a well-known name in our community. Her soft, delicious idlis and dosa batter are in high demand.
Many of the ladies extended their cooking beyond the four walls of their homes during the covid lock-down time. They provided meals to the seniors and those dependent on home cooks. It was then that the home-cooked flavours gained popularity.
The recent event of Rasoi Rockstar in ATS Greens Village saw participants — Seema Arora, Dr. Mini, Neetu Garg and Renuka Tanksale — being appreciated for their dishes and the display of their prepared preparations.
In Parsvnath Prestige, some friendly ladies come forward to cook healthy meals when once they come to know about any family not able to cook for some unavoidable reasons. One amongst these is Khshma Bakshi; her food is popular in the community.
The rise of home-cooked cuisine empowers women who can now contribute financially without stepping out of their homes. As this trend continues to grow, many women from smaller towns also, are using their culinary skills to create reels for online viewing.
