The Friends Club Library has grown from strength to strength over the last few years. With close to 20 thousand books, the library keeps itself updated with fresh arrivals every month, thanks to its active member base and librarian. Ms. Tabassum who has been instrumental in managing the library from the club team, is on her way to successfully completing a formal degree – Bachelors in Library and Information Sciences, a testimony to the Friends Club team evolving and upskilling with time.
Key new initiatives taken by the library over the last year include the creation of a Friends Club Book Lovers group (open to all Friends Club Members) a brain child of our Member Rameet Arora. which now has close to 150 Friends Club members and contributes to ideas, suggestions, book donations and events.
A significant initiative of this group has been The Friends Club Book Club, aptly tagged as Good books, Good Company, Good Tea. It is a monthly chai pey charcha of a book chosen by the community. Over 75 people have attended these passionate discussions so far, with monthly attendance ranging from 25-35 people. The Book club hopes to extend itself to be exposed to and discuss other literary and knowledge efforts via interaction/ exposure to playrights, screenplay, authors and thought leaders in the coming year
The Book Lovers Group also celebrates a Friends Club author every month. 7 authors have introduced their books so far. A special shelf has been created in the library to showcase these home authors.
