Once again the infamous strays and biters of the Colony are in the news again with their latest unprovoked attack on a D block resident, a house maid and some passersby, as reported by D
block resident Nutan Pandit. “There are several cases of the strays and biters and our lane is now dangerous for children and pet dogs. We have two rogue dogs in our lane, opposite our house fed by a resident and let loose in the lane. The lady caretaker feeder of the dogs refuses to rein them in or take any responsibility. My maid got bitten unprovoked. Someone was walking his pet dog and one of the biters, a black dog lunged to attack the pet dog on the leash, the owner quickly grabbed his dog in his arms to his chest to protect it. Four maids, a child and a motorbike rider have been attacked causing them to fall with injuries have been hurt, wounded and bitten.”No sooner such complaints appear on the various WhatsApp groups, that a spate of advice is rendered by enraged residents to call Frendicoes and get the dog biters removed.

After discussing this with Frendicoes this is the advice given: “We at Frendicoes have no authority to pick up or remove any strays or biters, however dangerous they might be. The correct procedure in such cases is to file a police complaint with evidence and proof of the attack or dog bite picture along with a proof of the anti-rabies tetanus shot, medical papers, as well as a complaint against the neighbor or persons responsible for feeding strays in the lane.

The police will send an inspector to survey the area of complaint and the biters involved and send his report to the SHO who will forward it to the MCD. The MCD is the only authority to deal with these cases.

The only advice offered by Frendicoes to residents and dog feeders adopting, is to keep strays and biters in the driveway, especially when feeding, do not let them loose on the street and if adopting them do so with full responsibility.
