In the thriving neighb-ourhood of Suncity, a group of determined residents orchestrated a women’s cricket tournament, Women’s Suncity Premier League (WSPL) Season 1, 2024 with a dual purpose: promoting health and wellness among residents and showcasing women’s prowess in sports. Under the leadership of Poonam Yadav, Ruhi Malhotra, SaloniChadda, Vivek Yadav, and Ankur Malhotra, this initiative aimed to foster inclusivity across all age groups while celebrating the joy of sportsmanship.
Teams were formed via a unique spin-the-wheel method, ensuring a diverse mix of players in each squad. With 7 members in each team, spanning ages from 17 to 50-plus, the teams were well-rounded and inclusive. Each match consisted of 8 overs per side, with bowlers limited to 2 overs each. From Dynamic Divas to Queen Bees and Golden Eagles, the teams were as diverse as they were spirited.
