Due to continuous heavy rains, the Yamuna river witnessed a rise in water level above the ‘red alert’ mark. In the months of July and August, citizens of Delhi-NCR watched drowning of streets, farms and houses due to flooding of the Yamuna, rendering people homeless and helpless.
Many NGOs and government-aided organizations stepped in to set up flood relief camps. Food, water, shelter and monetary help were provided for the less fortunate.
Making the residents of LBE proud, Rita Singh (T34 – 1003) also stepped in to help the caretaker and his family, who used to stay at their farm on the banks of the river, which was unfortunately under the flood water at that time.
Ms. Singh and her family provided monetary assistance to them to help them restore their lives back to normal once the flood water receded.
On behalf of LBE, we highly appreciate and honour the efforts made by her.
