Independence Day is a momentous occasion that marks the freedom of our country from foreign rule. It symbolises the triumph of courage and sacrifice and serves as a reminder of national unity. Every year Suncity celebrates Independence Day with great exuberance and pride. On 15th August, the Events team of SRWA organised a grand celebration that brought together residents of all ages. A Flag hoisting ceremony was held at the community centre. The fluttering tricolour was a visual representation of the sacrifices made by countless individuals in the fight for freedom. The sight of the flag evoked a sense of pride and reverence in everyone present.
The flag hoisting was followed by Suncity Olympics, a sports event with various fun-filled games and activities for all age groups. Several games like the Relay Race, Lemon Spoon Race, and Couples Race were held. The event had over 120 participants and spectators who thoroughly enjoyed it. The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Khyati Vakharia who is an eminent international athlete. A recipient of the Eklavya Award, Dr. Khyati is an Indian National Pole Vault Champion. Laughter and cheers echoed across the ground as everyone cheered for the participants.
The event concluded with a heartening award ceremony, where all participants were recognized for their enthusiasm and sportsmanship. Refreshments and snacks were also provided as residents interacted with each other, creating an atmosphere of celebration and community bonding.
Suncity is a community with residents of various states, cultures, and languages who came together to celebrate India’s Independence Day. Kudos to the Events Team and all its volunteers for organising such a wonderful event which succeeded in fostering a sense of patriotism as well as togetherness among people.
