First Open-Air Program by the New Club Committee

Shaam E Ghazal by Kamal Khan

Now that the non-resident executive committee member Jyoti Kachru is calling the shots in the Club, we can expect lots of cultural programmes. The first event  held outdoors on Sun, 30 July, on a sultry evening, was Shaam E Ghazal by Kamal Khan.

Irrespective of the sultry, muggy evening, members thronged the rear lawn in large numbers to enjoy ghazals by the famous Kamal Khan. At the start, Kamal was a bit disturbed by a section of the audience which were talking loudly amongst themselves while the singing was going on. After they settled down, Kamal kept the audience engaged with his ghazal singing.

It was a rather hot and humid and some senior citizens were spotted leaving the arena very early but most others enjoyed the evening thoroughly and stayed on till the end.

Entry to the event was free for members but guests had to pay guest charges. The food was well laid out and everybody appreciated the spread.

As the weather improves, we can look forward more such evenings at the Club.

High Sound Levels in the Sector

Message from a concerned resident:

Our beautiful Sector is sacrosanct, with the true meaning of community living. The Sector and its elected officials do a fantastic job.

However, it has pained me to read a few times of the anguish (caused by the high sound levels from the music being played in the Club lawns) of a senior resident of our Sector whose home is across the road running parallel to the back gate of our Club.

In fact, he has quoted the directive of the Honourable Supreme Court regarding the time limit in the evening and the decibel levels.

Furthermore, he has substantiated the decibel levels documentarily and although I am not a frequent visitor to this creative, wonderful group, whenever I have read the plea he has written, it has been polite.

My request: let us be completely sensitive to the law and the comfort of our fellow residents especially the senior residents. They have as much right to a sound sleep as we all do.

PS: today I spoke to one of the elected officials of the Club and true to the lovely spirit of the Sector, this fine gentleman had the music volume toned down. I thank him profusely.
