First Lift Being Installed in the SDF

Prakash Singh (SDF 3C, 9891471939) Gets a Go-Ahead from Noida Authority

Most senior citizens find it difficult to climb three flights of stairs at the three-storey apartment complex. We believe that there are super-senior citizens who live on the third floor and have not been able to come down for years in the absence of a lift.

Similar problems were being faced by some other societies in Noida, and Noida Authority had given them permission with some riders.

In the first of week of July this year, Prakash Singh (SDF 3 C) and SDF President Dr Anupma Bhardwaj met the then-CEO Noida Authority, Ritu Maheshwari. They explained the predicament faced by senior citizens in the SDF flats.

The meeting with the Ritu Maheshwari was very fruitful. The permission to install a lift in Prakash Singh’s complex was granted. It is for the first time that a lift is being installed in the SDF.

RWA also gave their full support to the SDF in the matter.

There were several enquiries. Prakash Singh ji has shared the following do’s and don’ts regarding the lift installation:

I have been getting several queries regarding the installation of lift in different flats, so the following information is being given for the benefit of other interested residents of SDF: i) Applications may be given individually or (this may be a better option) collectively, with a forwarding letter by the President SDF/President RWA.; ii) The resident will have to bear full expenses for the installation.; iii) Assuming that the top floor resident is seeking permission, a ‘No Objection’ from the resident of A or B would be enough. Noida Authority wants ‘No Objection’ from only 50% of the other residents.; iv) The installation should not affect any window/door or any other authorised opening of residents who live in A or B.; v) There should be no disruption of any electrical wiring, gas pipe or water pipe.; vi) In case the resident of B is also interested in the lift, the cost sharing formula will have to be worked out. In my application, I had indicated that in case B showed interest, they would have to bear 40% of the expenses while C would bear 60%.; vii) The application should be accompanied by a Site Plan showing the exact alignment of the proposed lift.; viii) As the flats are architecturally different, every site will be inspected by the Engineering Deptt of the Noida Authority.
