An apartment on the ground floor of T35 caught fire on 6 February evening. A resident on a higher floor messaged on the tower group asking if others could smell something burning. 5 minutes after that, residents started to alert everyone to rush down because a ground floor apartment was on fire.
With smoke reaching even the upper floors, residents rushed down to the children play area right outside the apartment. The master bedroom of the apartment was blazing while security personnel and some residents were trying to find a way to put out the fire.
The owner of the apartment was not at home, and we believe the fire started due to a short circuit in a plugged-in treadmill. The security broke into the house and doused the fire with a water hose and some fire extinguishers.
By the time the fire fighters entered the society, the fire was put out and the situation was in control. A special mention to our security guards who risked their life entering the apartment while one room was completely blazing and the whole apartment was full of smoke.
Following the incident, a fire mock drill was conducted the next day for residents and staff to be better prepared for such incidents. Everyone present was taught how to use the fire box and the extinguishers.
