The planners had planned for good firefighting apparatus but somewhere along the project execution, many jobs have not been completed which can endanger the residents’ lives.
The planned infrastructure was –
Fire Fighting: The following is being taken care of – • Providing firefighting cylinders (gas and CO2) on each floor of all towers and ensuring check-up • Providing firefighting training to residents and security staff • Providing pressurised water in fire hydrants, water hoses on all floors • Inspection of all fire escape routes/ staircases
Fire Alarm Systems: A critical feature in the whole firefighting system is unfortunately the most neglected and incomplete. The plan was to have a fire alarm panel in each tower, connected to smoke detectors of all flats.
This is supposed to give an alarm in the reception area, with affected area location and, in turn, send signal to central control room with the location of fire/ smoke, and further send signal to fire brigade.
Unfortunately, this is a neglected area. The smoke detectors are bust and are there only as decoration pieces with no fire control panels or connectivity. The central control room is not connected/ monitored.
For their own safety, residents must take up with authorities the criticality of completing this part of the firefighting system.
